Our Inaugural Event — Photos!
Cafe del Mondo hosted our inaugural Slow Food Columbus dinner on the evening of the 20th. The four-course meal highlighted local produce and meats, and each course was paired with a lovely Italian wine. (View menu)
Two of our fearless leaders, Colleen and Haley, share a laugh with Alex, manager and espresso artiste, before the event.
The organic pasta Bolognese with Spectrum Farm beef and organic vegetables, served family-style.
John and Mary Ellen Wozny of Spectrum Farm, describing the care and feeding of Murray Grey beef cattle; other speakers (not pictured) included Bob Hicks of Mid/West Fresh Foods, Craig Powell of Mount Victory Meats, and Michael Jones of Local Matters.
Cin-cin!
Congratulations to everyone who put in so many hours of hard work to make this happen, and thanks again to Bill, Bruna, Alex and the crew at del Mondo for making everything run as smoothly as it did; to John, Bob, Craig and Michael for coming out to speak; and to Jeni Britton for donating her terrific Ohio Spicebush Berry ice cream (and for teaching us all what spicebush berries taste like!!)

Hello and welcome to the Slow Food family! I’m so proud that my boyhood home now has a convivium, and pleased to hear that it started out so well. My mother attended the dinner too (that’s her in the center of the 4th photo), and had nothing but great things to say. Keep up the good work, and help Slow Food create a food system that’s “Good, Clean, and Fair.”

Looks lovely. Maybe in 5 years when my daughter can sit still we can enjoy slow food. I can’t wait to try Cafe Del Mondo. Passed by it a million times and never went in.
